  “GOD WANTS ME FOR HIMSELF”

      Jeanne says these words to the sailor who wanted to marry her.

For Jeanne Jugan, the POOR defined her vocation. God had waited for her in the POOR;          

   She had met and found him in the Poor

        “Vocation is a call which the Lord, always faithful renews for us until the end of our life." -                                                                                                                       (Constitutions LSP)

Through the centuries Christ has been calling men and women to follow Him by dedicating themselves totally to Him for a particular mission in the Church and in the world.

           VOCATION  DISCERNMENT

“You did not choose me, but I chose you” Jn 15:16

Jesus continues to call the young people of today for the radical following of Him either in priesthood or religious life. Discernment is a journey through which Jesus reveals his loving plan to those who really seek him.

If you feel that you are called to serve Christ in religious life, what should you do? 

​

First of all, pray often and ask God to reveal his will for you. Have recourse to the Sacraments especially the Eucharist and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. If possible find a church for a Eucharistic adoration. Find a Priest spiritual director in whom you have confidence to direct you and help you to discern God’s Will for you. Visit a religious community.

If you desire to discern your vocation at the Little Sisters of the Poor what should you do?

 

For those who feel called to follow Saint Jeanne Jugan as a Little Sister of the Poor, formation is a process of progressively taking on the mind and heart of Christ. It means living charity, humility, devotedness to the poor and unconditional trust in God’s loving Providence just as our beloved foundress did

GENERALLY,

Single, Catholic young women 18 to 40 years of age may be accepted into the formation program of the Congregation. Those over 40 who desire to share in our life are encouraged to consider being associates in the Association Jeanne Jugan.

  • You can visit a Home of the Little Sisters of the Poor close to your place. Probably you can offer to come and help out for the meal service of the elderly Residents in weekends.

  • You can pray the Liturgy of the Hours of the Church with the Little Sisters whenever it is possible.

  • During holidays, you can come and spend a few days at the Home and help the Little Sisters in caring for the elderly.

  • You can also bring your friends to visit the Home and interact with the elderly.
