Celebrating the Elders Day - Guntur!

This year our Holy Father Pope Francis instituted the First World Grandparents and the Elders Day on July 25th 2021 around the feast of Saints Joachim and Anne, the parents of our Blessed Mother Mary. As the elders are being forgotten in today's society the Holy Father desires that everyone honours and venerates the elderly for what they are and for the invaluable riches they transmit to the younger generation.

To celebrate this feast the Little Sisters of the Poor at Guntur had the privilege of having three priests to concelebrate the Eucharist for the intentions of the elderly Residents who are under their care. Fr Dominic Savio, 90 years old was the main celebrant, Fr Papaiah and Fr Chinnaiah being the concelebrants. The Jesuit brothers animated the liturgy with beautiful singing. After Mass, the Little Sisters, Brothers and the priests went around wishing the Residents "A very Happy Feast." Other interesting things followed during the day. A delicious meal and the entertainments filled the entire day to make the elders happy and contented!
